Nickel trading range for the day is 878.8-911.6.

* Nickel prices gained as dollar slipped but upside seen limited as long positions entered the market cautiously on concerns over potential, fresh US tariffs.

* Concerns over an escalating trade conflict between the US and China battered emerging market currencies and prompted investors to seek dollar.

* Manufacturing activity in China, grew last month at its slowest rate in more than a year, with export orders shrinking for a fifth month.
