* Crude oil gained after China confirmed it would hold talks with Washington next week to solve trade disputes between the two countries.

* Despite the turmoil, oil prices have received some support as supply cuts announced by the OPEC kick in.

* U.S. crude oil inventories unexpectedly increased last week, the Energy Information Administration said in its weekly report.
